Arabesque II makes use of deep reds and maroons, contrasted on a white background. The motion of the color is up and across the panel, creating momentum, but also a sense of resolution and, therefore, serenity. While the color is eye-catching, its use is calming. Comprised of mixed media and measuring at 36” x 18”, this piece plays off of the idea of contrast, both of color and negative space and motion and stillness. Some of the color appears to be falling away, while most of it is cresting, almost like a wave, across the top of the panel.
