Chambered Nautilis with Frog II

“The sinuousness of form, translucency and iridescence of its shell made the Nautilis fascinating for artists and collectors in the 17th and 18th century. The creation of objects both useful and frivolous were made mainly for the dining table, gold and silversmiths would work to make them into goblets, salt cellars, pitchers and other useful pieces of art.
Using surrealism, I’ve extended the gilt stand to exaggerated heights.”
