Ana Rosa de Ycaza’s Small Copper Etching I is a black and white engraving copper minimalist abstract mixed media with a French oak frame. Born in New York City to a prestigious family from Guayaquil, Ecuador, Ana Rosa Marcos de Ycaza explored surrealist imagery. Although de Ycaza remains almost completely unknown today, Hayter, who was never overgenerous with praise, wrote that de Ycaza “had something promising, really important” and was “one of the most talented people we had.”
